In 1999 Connie Whitlock came out with her debut CD "Be Still". She was a mother of three young children at the time and wanted to find a more stay at home way to promote her new project. She started the web site KCChristianMusic.com with the help of her husband Bob. In that same month she was asked to create and produce a show on KCWJ, a Christian radio station in Kansas City, featuring artists on her web site. Doug Williams hosted the show along with Connie, a friend that she thought had a talent for radio.
The following year the first Annual KCCM Awards was birthed. Many people came on board and stayed through the duration like our good friend John Barbour. Later on in 2001 DeAnne Arnold joined the team as producer of the radio show and eventually recorded, produced, and hosted the KCCM Radio Show. DeAnne was later given the title Vice President and further helped the artists on KCChristianMusic.com.
In 2005 Connie and her husband Bob put a new business plan together and heard the Lord speaking about a name change. It was going to be Kool Cat Music but during that summer Bob raised the question about it being called King Cat Music. At first Connie was skeptical but open to what the Lord wanted to do. The next morning after some prayer Chad Toney called and out of the blue asked if we ever considered the name "King Cat Music". Well, that's how the name came about.
Later that year DeAnne resigned and started her own booking company. We met Eddy Mora with Identity Box and ended up partnering with him to help the company grow in sales, graphics, and get a solid marketing plan.
In 2006 the directors program started to grow and officially will launch in 2007. Terrell L, Jan Watts, Bob Hill, Dale Sharp, Brenda Meyer, Chris Day, Johnnie Johnson, and Pastor Dave are the directors that will launch this program in the US.
King Cat Music is very excited about it's future and God is doing something new in music. Come join us in this climb and let's get to the goal together.
